Khuzestan Handicrafts Building to Undergo Restoration

The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Ahvaz has announced the restoration of the Khuzestan Handicrafts Building.

According to Miras Aria, Zahra Piroozi stated that the Khuzestan Handicrafts Building, dating back to the Pahlavi era, was registered as a national heritage site on August 18, 2009, under registration number 27468.

She explained that the 300-square-meter building is currently under the supervision of the Ahvaz County Office of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts. Due to its age, the building has suffered some damage, and in the first phase, the basement is being restored using provincial funding resources.

Piroozi noted that the initial phase of restoration included structural reinforcement and roof strengthening. The second phase will focus on both the interior and exterior renovation, including plastering, painting, restoring rooms, repairing the main and internal doors, organizing the rooftop, refurbishing restrooms, restoring the stone stairs, the entrance garden area, as well as repointing the façade, and organizing the parking lot and shading structures.
